Filing: ExxonMobil Reports Flaring at Baytown CLE Unit

HOUSTON, TX (DTN) -- ExxonMobil today reported an emission event at its
588,000 bpdBaytown, Texas, refinery following an interruption of the supply of
make-up water to flare seal drum during planned maintenance to replace thin
piping.
"Make-up water was restored to the flare seal drum. Operational adjustments
were made to stabilize operations and minimize emissions," the company said in
a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
The incident, which affected the Catalytic Light Ends Unit, began at 3:00 PM
local time Wednesday (7/9) and concluded this morning at 4:59 AM local.
The company reported that monitoring data, along with other available
information, indicated no adverse environmental impact to the refinery site or
surrounding Baytown community.
"There is minimal impact to production. We expect to meet our contractual
commitments," the company stated in the filing.
